Myrrh represents the bitterness, harshness, and detriment in life.

In a sense, if you never experience detriment in life, you will never know what it is to experience joy. These two polarities are representative of the duality in life.

Gold is representative of the self and the realization of ones own balance between the two extreme comparisons that can be experience in life.

Sufferings may be turned into blessings, but Blessings should not be turned into sufferings.
